From press release:
"Multi-award-winning jazz trumpet player Brownman Ali, best known for his creatively bombastic & energized playing style has made him a trumpet choice for such A-listers as Guru, Paul Simon, Jay-z & Quincy Jones, strips down to a bare bones configuration for the Musideum's "+1" series. This Easter Sunday's intimate duet show will feature one of the most in demand of the 20-something generation of jazz pianists in Toronto -- NICK MACLEAN. Brownman has appeared as a featured guest with Maclean's energized fusion group SNAGGLE and Brown has employed him as a pianist in his own ensembles often. Both these artists represent 2 different generations of top-shelf jazz improvisers in the city, both sharing a penchant for modern jazz music and creative improvising."

Now in it's second year, the BROWNMAN+1 series continues throughout the year at Musideum, each month Brown appearing with 1 other mystery musician -- could be piano, could be bass, could even turntables - who knows! Each duet showcasing Brownman's lesser known introspective & self-reflective playing approach accompanied by a mystery +1 each month.

ABOUT NICK MACLEAN www.NicholasMaclean.com
=============================================
Composer, arranger, pianist, synthist, educator and band leader, Toronto-based Nick Maclean is a musical force to be reckoned with. Originally from Ottawa, Nick is a graduate of Humber college where he studied with many of Canada’s jazz greats including Bernie Senensky, Nancy Walker and Dave Restivo. Upon graduating Nick immediately began his masters degree at the University of Toronto where he has been studying with Chris Donnelly, David Braid and David Occhipinti, and has been conducting research into synthesizer pedagogy. Recently, Nick has spent much of his time writing and arranging. Experimenting with many different styles of music, Nick continually expands his palate and pushes his music in as many directions as he can. “I don’t like to stay in one spot creatively speaking. I’m always looking for new things to try and different ways of approaching a tune.” Nick is the keyboardist, principle composer and band leader for the Toronto-based fusion funk ensemble Snaggle. Snaggle is a 6 piece ensemble which boasts an energetic, balls-to-the-wall sound and a repertoire of entirely original material. Snaggle released it’s debut album in September, 2013 and tours regionally.
